Yuzvendra Chahal's Gritty Spell Powers Punjab Kings to a Historic Victory Over KKR in IPL 2025

In one of the most thrilling turnarounds of IPL 2025, Punjab Kings pulled off a dramatic 16-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders, defending a meager total of just 111 runs at Mullanpur. The hero of the night? None other than Yuzvendra Chahal — who defied a shoulder injury to deliver a magical performance with the ball.

Despite an early flourish by PBKS openers, the team crumbled to 111 in 15.3 overs, thanks to a clinical bowling display by KKR, especially Harshit Rana (3/25), Varun Chakravarthy (2/21), and Sunil Narine (2/14). It looked like an easy chase for Kolkata, but Chahal had other plans.

Introduced into the attack in the 8th over, Chahal immediately broke through with a crucial dismissal. His spell gained momentum with back-to-back wickets, including a near hat-trick. He ended with jaw-dropping figures of 4 for 28, turning the match on its head and pushing KKR into a collapse they couldn’t recover from.

Even Andre Russell's late fireworks couldn't rescue Kolkata as they fell short, handing PBKS a remarkable win. What made this performance even more special was that Chahal played despite nursing a shoulder injury — a true warrior move that earned him massive praise from coach Ricky Ponting.

This win will surely go down as one of the most iconic defenses in IPL history.
