In a stunning turnaround, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Abhishek Sharma scripted history in IPL 2025 with a jaw-dropping knock that not only ended SRH’s losing streak but also etched his name in the record books. Scoring a sensational 141 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Abhishek delivered the highest-ever score by an Indian in IPL history, putting behind a rough patch with style and power.

Just a week ago, Abhishek’s form had reached a low when he was dismissed for just one run in the opening over, triggering frustration among fans and even SRH co-owner Kavya Maran, whose reaction went viral on social media. Fast forward to Saturday night at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, and the mood had completely changed.

After smashing 10 sixes and 14 boundaries, Abhishek not only brought SRH back to winning ways but also drew a heartfelt reaction from Kavya Maran, who was seen jumping in joy and immediately making her way to greet and hug Abhishek’s parents in the stands—a gesture that captured the emotional weight of the moment.

Abhishek’s 141-run innings is now the third-highest individual score in IPL history, only behind Chris Gayle’s 175 (2013)* and *Brendon McCullum’s 158 (2008)**. Despite a slow start to IPL 2025—scoring just 51 runs across the first five matches—Abhishek credited his resurgence to the support of captain Pat Cummins, SRH team management, and cricketing mentors like Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav.

“It’s not easy for any player to go through that form. Special mention to the team and captain... Also Yuvi paaji and Surya bhai have been in touch and supporting me,” Abhishek said after receiving the Player of the Match award.
