Priya's remarkable journey in the world of judo has captivated the hearts of sports enthusiasts across India. From a young student at Government High School in Madhopuri to competing on international stages, Priya has proven her dedication and talent time and again, making her a rising star in the martial art.

It all began in 2012 when a young Priya, then a Class VIII student, bagged her first silver medal at the Ludhiana District Schools Judo Tournament in the below 44-kg weight category. This was just the beginning. The following year, Priya made her national debut at the Junior National Judo Championship in Shillong, competing in the below 52-kg category and just missing out on a podium finish.

However, it was in 2017 that Priya truly made her mark at the national level by securing a bronze medal in the below 70-kg weight category at the Junior National Judo Championship in Saifai, Uttar Pradesh. This achievement set the stage for even bigger things to come.

In 2019, Priya's talent was on full display when she clinched a gold medal at the prestigious All-India Inter-Universities Judo Championship at Panjab University in Chandigarh. Competing in the below 70-kg category, Priya not only won the top honours but also brought significant recognition to her alma mater, Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj.

Her success continued internationally as she represented India at the World Universities Games in Italy in July 2019. Though she didn't secure a medal, the experience of competing against some of the best judokas in the world provided invaluable exposure and insight into the global arena of judo.

Priya's dedication to the sport is unmatched. With the guidance of her coach, Parveen Thakur, she follows a rigorous training schedule and remains focused on her ultimate goal—bringing glory to her country and making her family proud. Her coach, Parveen Thakur, speaks highly of her, noting that Priya is a quick learner and possesses all the qualities necessary to excel on the international stage.

Ravinder Singh, the District Sports Officer of Ludhiana, commended Priya for her achievements, especially her participation in the World Universities Games, and expressed his best wishes for her future endeavors.

As Priya continues to hone her skills and prepare for upcoming competitions, the hope is that she will soon don the national colours and bring home a medal for India. With her talent, determination, and hard work, Priya is certainly a name to watch in the world of judo.
